$20 - $40 (sliding-scale) per class
$100 - $150 for the full session

Come explore culture, sound design, creativity, and rhythm through the language and notes of tabla, the traditional drums of north India. Jim Santi Owen and Robin Sukhadia, disciples of Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri, lead focused classes on learning and applying the rhythmic language behind tabla. A limited number of drums are available for learning and practice at the Sangati Center, but please bring your own if possible. Learn correct posture, finger positioning, recitation, tala (cycles of time), and composition (kaidas, tukras, mukras, thekas, tihai, and more). Students of all levels encouraged to participate, from complete beginners to those with some experience from previous sessions.
