Indian Dual Citizenship (Dual Nationality) effective at last

Hi, At last, nearly one year after the Indian Parliament passed the Dual Nationality law, there is good news for Indians in America, much of Europe and other places - the Indian Dual Citizenship (Dual Nationality) regulations from the Citizenship (Amendment) Act 2003 are now effective. The Ministry of Home Affairs confirms this if you contact them in New Delhi. They told a deshi friend of mine that the first date on which applications are accepted was September 20 2004. You can download the necessary forms from the Ministry website here http://mha.nic.in/citi.htm The key webpages are http://mha.nic.in/citizenship/procedure.htm which is a Checklist including para "IV Registration as Overseas Citizens of India" http://mha.nic.in/citizenship/acquire1.htm Summary or synopsis - most is the old material but see para on "Registration of overseas citizens of India (Section 7A)" http://mha.nic.in/citizenship/forms/citi-form.htm The Forms page - the ones you will need will be one of Forms XIX/XIXA/XIXB) http://mha.nic.in/citizenship/citi-fees1.htm Fees (it's $275)
